Eating Disorder Program at RiverStone

The Eating Disorder Program at RiverStone Wellness Center is staffed by a team
of highly-trained eating disorder (ED) therapists, a registered dietitian, an expressive arts therapist, and a yoga instructor. Our program is designed for clients recovering from anorexia, bulimia, binge eating  and distorted body image. Clients participate in an initial assessment and must meet outpatient criteria for enrollment.

This treatment program includes a mindfulness component and clients are encouraged  to participate in free weekly yoga classes which can help them develop
a more positive relationship with their body.

Our program is based on the leading evidence-based treatment for adults with an eating disorder, CBT-e.  This therapy focuses on addressing thinking patterns and tracking  emotion  tied  to  eating  patterns. In  treatment,  clients  work  toward  a   regular eating pattern that does not include counting calories, avoided foods, or dietary rules.

The program typically involves 20 sessions: two sessions a week for the first five weeks and one session during each of the remaining ten weeks.  After a pattern of normal eating is established, clients start to focus on issues related to self-esteem, self-worth, and boundaries with self and others. Near the end of the treatment
program, participants develop a long-term recovery plan to aid them in maintaining
the progress made in therapy.
